Contractor Challenge - 2

Having a plan is key to success. It is far too easy to either:

  • Presume that the intention is clear to everyone on the team, when there is likely more ambiguity.
  • Presume you will just figure it out on the fly.

These tendencies often lead to suboptimal results.

Develop a plan of attack

Over the next 30 minutes, develop a plan to get every IP address assigned to network infrastructure into DNS. Points of consideration:

  • Physical, logical (SVI, loopbacks, etc) interfaces
  • NAT IP addresses
  • Load Balancer VIP IPs
  • What the DNS names format should be
  • The continuous synchronization of all entries (to remove IPs no longer used)

The plan can/should include:

  • Logical high-level steps to take
  • Stubbed out folder structure
  • Stubbed out function/class structure
  • Access requests you may have

You will present your solution at the end, given 5 minutes to present.
